The Israeli military Saturday said it wants to start dropping aid supplies over the Gaza Strip again and also wants to enable the delivery of food and medicine by the United Nations via humanitarian corridors.

The statement issued late Saturday came after increasing accounts of starvation-related deaths in Gaza following months of experts’ warnings of famine.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it has carried out "systematic learning processes" to improve its "operational response" in order to ease tensions between Gazans and the IDF at aid distribution points. It says it is putting up fences, placing signs, and opening extra routes, among other steps.
