Bobby Witt Jr. belted a three-run homer and veteran starter Michael Wacha pitched a three-hitter to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 9-3 win in the opener of a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Despite a recent slide, the Toronto Blue Jays are still tied atop the American League. After dropping five of six, the Blue Jays will look to get back on track in Game 2 of a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals Saturday at the Rogers Centre.
