While ESPN and the NFL may have agreed to a massive media deal that will give The Worldwide Leader in Sports a major stake in the league, there are still many hurdles to overcome before it becomes official.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reports that ESPN and the NFL have agreed to a deal "potentially worth billions" that will merge the NFL Network and RedZone with ESPN. The deal comes after four years of negotiations that resulted in a "complicated agreement" that allows ESPN access to those two TV Channels.

ESPN is set to acquire NFL RedZone and several of the league's other top media holdings, according to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, who also reported Friday that, in return, the NFL will receive equity in ESPN that is potentially worth billions of dollars.
