Cambodia’s prime minister, Hun Manet, said he had supported a proposal by Malaysia for a ceasefire, but claimed Thailand had initially agreed, only to reverse its decision.

On Friday, the acting Prime Minister of Thailand, Phumtham Wechayachai, said that the cross-border clashes with Cambodia that have uprooted more than 130,000 people "could develop into war," as the countries traded deadly strikes for a second day.

The reason for the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia is the Prasat Ta Muen Thom, an ancient Hindu temple which is located at the border between Thailand's Surin province and Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey province.
