The body of a missing boater on Lake Murray has been found in Saluda County and was identified as a Lexington teenager.

A South Carolina teen has died after falling out of a boat into Lake Murray on Monday, the Saluda County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.

SALUDA, S.C. — The Saluda County Coroner's Office is confirming that a teenager died in a boating accident on Lake Murray. Coroner Angie Rita said Tuesday afternoon that Bryson Burns, 17, died in an incident that took place late Monday afternoon.

Saluda County Coroner Angie Rita later identified the body as 17-year-old Bryson Burns, of Lexington. Rita added that Burns was the sole operator of a small johnboat and had fallen into the water earlier Monday afternoon. His body was recovered at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Attorney and Columbia City Councilman Tyler Bailey was hired by the family to independently investigate the child's death.
