Forgive the poor pun and reference, but it sure smells like The Rock might make his way back to WWE programming soon.

Cody Rhodes will face John Cena in a much-awaited WWE rematch at the historic first two-night SummerSlam 2025 Premium Live Event.

The Final Boss has not been seen since John Cena shockingly sold his soul to him at WWE Elimination Chamber back in early March. The Rock, Cena and rapper Travis Scott orchestrated a brutal beat down of then WWE Champion Cody Rhodes just moments after Cena won the men's chamber match and became the new No. 1 Contender for the title.

WWE has never offered a satisfactory explanation for how he managed to coax John Cena into a heel turn back at Elimination Chamber Toronto in March. When that blockbuster moment happened, most fans would've been forgiven for thinking they were in for a rollercoaster ride manned by the twin powers of Rock and Cena.

The Rock is not expected to return to WWE television, or the squared circle, anytime soon. According to Bleacher Report, which cited internal sources, this latest update effectively rules him out of SummerSlam,
