In the latest weekly update of mosquito activity, Mosquito Control’s entomology lab reported that Culex tarsalis mosquitoes — the species most responsible for human transmission of West Nile virus — are active in some of the highest numbers recorded this early.

Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been found in all 7 Twin Cities counties, with unusually high activity reported earlier than normal.
