President Trump announced a “massive” oil exploration partnership with Pakistan despite its lack of confirmed oil reserves. Energy analysts are skeptical, noting that Pakistan has never produced commercially viable offshore oil despite seismic surveys.

But Trump appears convinced, at least on his own social media platform, that Pakistan is sitting on huge oil reserves.

Pakistan has 353,500,000 barrels of oil reserves as of 2016, ranking 52nd in the world and accounting for just 0.021 per cent of the world’s total reserves.
