New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz said he is open to playing in the World Baseball Classic in 2026 despite suffering a major injury in a past tournament.

Thankfully for the Mets, Díaz is as good as ever. Díaz recently earned his third All-Star selection and entered Friday owning a 1.55 ERA and a 61-14 K-BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings. Díaz owns 21 saves and, barring injury, should record his most saves since joining the Mets ahead of the 2019 season.
