French qualifier Terence Atmane surprised Jannik Sinner with a rare Pikachu card for his 24th birthday before their Cincinnati Open semi-final. Sinner dominated the match, winning 7–6 (4), 6–2 with 91 per cent first-serve success.

Cincinnati Open volunteer Phil Carver adopted the puppy that Jannik Sinner met after a match. Later, Carver got to meet Sinner at his birthday party.

Jannik Sinner was subjected to an unusual chant from the Cincinnati Open crowd before his match against Terence Atmane. The young Italian was pitted against his French rival in the semi-finals, having won all of his previous matches without dropping a set.
