Heavy rain is forecast for Thursday afternoon, east of the Cascades, which could trigger flash floods in and near areas previously affected by wildfires.

The watch was issued for Grande Ronde Valley, Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon, Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon, John Day Basin, Ochoco-John Day Highlands, East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades and Central Oregon as well as Wallowa County.

Flash flood watches for parts of Oregon are in effect from 2 p.m. through the evening of July 31. Heavy rainfalls could trigger flash flooding or debris flows near recent wildfire burn scars, according to the National Weather Service.
