Adriana Kugler will resign from her role as a Federal Reserve governor — opening up a vacancy on the board as President Trump pressures the Fed to slash interest rates.

One of the seven members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Adriana Kugler, announced she is stepping down next week, creating an opening for President Donald Trump to fill.

The Federal Reserve left its benchmark interest rate unchanged for the fifth straight meeting Wednesday amid tremendous pressure from President Donald Trump to reduce borrowing costs. For the first time since 1993, two of the seven members of the Fed’s board of governors dissented.
