The White House defended Donald Trump's stay at two golf properties during a "working visit" to Scotland that included meetings with European leaders.

U.S. President Donald Trump formally opened a new golf course at his sprawling property in Scotland on Tuesday, saying he would play a quick round before heading home to focus on addressing crises in the Middle East and elsewhere.

The new 18-hole course is outside of Aberdeen and will be named after his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born in Scotland. Trump owns two other golf courses in Scotland — a separate one in Aberdeen that opened in 2012 and one at Turnberry that opened in 2014.
