So far, Washington's fire season is shaping up exactly as expected. The entire state and Oregon has above-normal fire risk.

A new wildfire erupted on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge the afternoon of July 18, which has closed Highway 14.

Fire lines held against gusty winds on Thursday around the Burdoin Fire in the Columbia River Gorge. Fire officials say that, “crews are working to stop fire movement within the unburned ‘fingers' around Catherine and Major creeks, Lyle Snowden Road and Canyon Road, as well as a ‘horseshoe’ on the east end of the fire.”
