Tesla plans to offer a chauffeur-style service operated by human drivers to a limited number of people in the San Francisco Bay Area, a California regulator said on Friday, contrary to a media report that the EV maker would offer a robotaxi service.

The autonomous Model Ys will reportedly have a person in the driver's seat and rides will be limited to invited guests only

Tesla is reported to have had plans to rollout a robotaxi service in San Francisco as early as this weekend. But state officials say they are not permitted to do such a thing and haven't even applied for a permit.
