The City of Winnipeg says it has denied a parks booking permit for a concert planned by a U.S. Christian musician because of operational challenges. Some community members had worried the event might spur discriminatory rhetoric.

A show in Halifax, cancelled over what Parks Canada said were “heightened public safety concerns,” proceeded at a farmer’s field outside the Nova Scotia capital, and Feucht secured alternate venues in Charlottetown, Moncton, Quebec City, Gatineau, and Vaughan, Ont.

The city government of Winnipeg, Manitoba, denied a permit Tuesday for activist missionary and worship leader Sean Feucht to perform in a public park amid a flurry of other cancellations during his revival tour throughout Canada.
