The National Hurricane Center gives the latest update on Hurricane Iona and says it is "rapidly weakening" to the south of Hawaii.

Hurricane Iona was expected to move westward for the next couple of days and stay far south of the Hawaiian Islands, forecasters said.

A major hurricane was churning across the Pacific Ocean but was several hundred miles south-southeast of Hawaii and posed no threat to the islands, forecasters said Tuesday.
