AKRON, Ohio (AP) — AKRON, Ohio (AP) — FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $268 million. On a per-share basis, the Akron, Ohio-based company said it had net income of 46 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 52 cents per share.

Allegheny Technologies shares have increased 71% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen 8%. The stock has risen 44% in the last 12 months.
