The blaze had stopped growing at 5,370 acres as it burned near Castaic and the Los Angeles and Ventura county line.

Firefighters eyed full containment of the Canyon Fire as crews reached 91% on Aug. 11, and the acreage burned was kept to 5,370 for the third day. Fire crews continued to hold the lines set up on Aug. 10 and monitored for heat signatures, said Andrew Dowd, a spokesperson for the Ventura County Fire Department.

The fire has scorched an estimated 5,400 acres north of Los Angeles, but Ventura County officials said firefighters were making “good progress in suppressing the blaze.”
