Toronto is among the most polluted cities in the world on Monday morning as the city remains under a special air quality statement for its third consecutive day.

A stretch of southern Ontario remains under a special air quality statement today amid smoke from wildfires burning in parts of the country. Environment Canada says smoke from forest fires can cause reduced air quality and visibility that can fluctuate throughout the day.

The wildfire smoke may persist through today (Tuesday) and possibly Wednesday,” said Environment Canada in a Tuesday morning statement.
