Parts of the Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia were locked down Wednesday after an active shooter was reported on the sprawling Army post, a spokesperson said. Fort Stewart said in a Facebook post that “casualties have been reported and the situation is ongoing.” It’s unclear whether casualties include injuries, deaths or both.

At least five people have been shot on Fort Stewart after an active shooter was confirmed this morning, according to a military public affairs officer. They have been transported to Winn Army Community Hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not known at this time.
